Curriculum Planning (UbD)
Hawker Brownlow Professional Learning Solutions has partnered with Dr. Jay McTighe to support the growth and impact of curriculum planning - UbD in Australasia.
UbD is a framework for improving student achievement through curriculum planning, instructional design and assessment. UbD supports teacher-designers to take a clear path to the creation of curriculum that ensures better learning and a more stimulating experience for students and teachers alike.
UbD supports the concept of “backward design” It examines the logic of backward design and utilises a three-stage model for developing units and assessments that focus on developing and deepening students’ understanding of important ideas. UbD provides curriculum planning resources and templates to ensure educators ‘teach for understanding’.
